Storyville

The Storyville Jazz Band was founded by gifted amateur musicians in Szeged in early 1997. Their repertoire is based on the music of 1900-1920 thus they try to revitalize the mood of New Orleans' Storyville district. However, they play lots of later revival tunes, as well.
Their main recording features American Joe Muranyi, last clarinet player of the Louis Armstrong All Stars.
The band's major unicum is the use of the violin. Their violinist, Frankie Lato studied with Didier Lockwood in France. His virtuosity adds a lot to the Storyville image. Bandleader Pál Háló got his American washboard from Joe Muranyi and he uses it in a few tunes instead of sitting behind the drumset.

Members of the band: Frankie LÁTÓ - vl, Péter FARKAS - tp, Árpád DENNERT - sax, cl, László SALLAI - tb, Kornél KURINA - bj, g, Attila SZORCSIK - b, Pál HÁLÓ - dr. ld
