Cell Block 7

Cell Block 7, formed in 1981, has many plans of attack for bringing musical joy to jazz lovers! They play a variety of jazz forms including the "West Coast" style of Lu Watters and Turk Murphy and they bring into play humor, great banjo virtuoso solos and stunning trios played on three silver double bell euphoniums collected through the years.

The band has released 7 CD's over the years and has performed throughout the globe. Recent international appearances include festivals in Great Britain (Bude, Clevedon, Edinburgh). Last year the Cell Block 7 made a very successful 12 day tour of the five major cities in Taiwan and they also performed at the Chilliwack Jazz Festival in British Columbia, Canada. Stateside has seen them perform at Pismo Beach's Jubilee-by-the-Sea many times, The Friday Harbor Jazz Festival, Arizona's Classic Jazz Festival, Big Bear Festival, San Diego Jazz Festival, and again this year, for the eleventh year in a row, the Sacramento Jazz Jubilee.
