The Bohém Ragtime Jazz Band was founded in 1985 and has been a sought-after group at the major European festivals ever since. Their recordings and concerts have been broadcast in Hungarian, British, German, Finnish, Polish, Croatian, Rumanian and American radios and televisions. They received first prize at the National Competition for Hungarian Dixieland Bands in 1994 and 1995. The Bohéms also received the prestigious 'eMeRTon Prize' in 2003 and thus were awarded as 'Jazz band of the year'. The band's tenth CD came out as their 20-year anniversary album in 2005.
Leader of the band, Tamás Ittzés has already recorded two albums for a Californian label and both received critical acclaim in important jazz periodicals. He received first prize at the Ragtime Composition Contest by the Scott Joplin Foundation with his Sedalia Rag in 2001.
The band gives about 60-80 concerts a year and frequently toures both in Europe and North America. After having been invited to Berlin, Breda, Biel, Düsseldorf, Leverkusen, Montreux, Dresden, Oslo, Pori, Sacramento, San Jose, Toronto, Ascona, Bude and many other festivals in the past 20 years, the Bohéms will be featured at the Sacramento Jazz Jubilee in 2008.
